Things to do in and around Blackpool

Seafront walks, park paths, theatre and music, with ideas for exploring Blackpool beyond a single day at the beach.

Make the promenade part of your day

A walk along the promenade is a good way to see how Blackpool fits together. The Tower provides an easy landmark, and North, Central and South Pier each give a different stopping point along the seafront. You can plan a short stretch rather than trying to cover the whole coast at once.

For families or anyone who prefers less walking, combine a promenade section with a tram journey. The coastal route also makes it possible to explore towards Cleveleys or Fleetwood without moving the car between stops.

Take a quieter turn at Stanley Park

Stanley Park offers a change of pace from the seafront. Explore the formal Italian Gardens, then follow the paths towards the lake. It is a useful choice when you want a park outing, a gentle walk or space to pause away from the busiest visitor streets.

Choose the route to suit your group and the conditions. Gardens, lakeside paths and nearby leisure facilities make different starting points, so you do not need to treat the park as one long circuit.

Look at the evening programme

The Grand Theatre on Church Street offers a reason to return to the centre in the evening. Browse its programme for drama, comedy, music and family shows, then choose somewhere nearby to eat. For a regular activity, Blackpool Music School and local clubs offer a different way to spend time in the town.

Build a day around your interests

A good Blackpool day need not revolve around the biggest attractions. Try an independent shopping stop, lunch and a park walk, or a class followed by a seafront stroll. Use venues' own booking information for the activities you choose, particularly when arranging tickets or planning around access needs.
