Start with the right council
Blackpool Council is a unitary authority. For a Blackpool address, its own website is the starting point for services including council tax, waste collections, local roads and libraries. You do not need to work out a district and county split for those Blackpool services.
The wider directory catchment crosses council boundaries. A business in Poulton-le-Fylde or Cleveleys may be in Wyre, while an address around Lytham St Annes may be in Fylde. For a service tied to your home, use your address to identify the responsible authority.
Libraries as local starting points
Blackpool's library network includes Central, Layton, Moor Park, Palatine and Anchorsholme, alongside other neighbourhood facilities. Libraries can be a useful place to look for reading, information and local activities without starting with a large attraction or ticketed event.
Look at the council's library pages for the branch you can reach. Staffed hours and self-service arrangements differ between buildings, so choose the right branch information when organising a visit.
Support for people who care for someone
Blackpool Carers Centre supports unpaid carers from its base at Beaverbrooks House on Newton Drive. Its website explains how to access support and make a referral. It is a more suitable first contact for caring responsibilities than a general business enquiry to an unrelated organisation.
Find a group you can keep coming back to
Music, sport and inclusive arts can help turn an occasional outing into a regular local connection. Explore organisations by the activity you enjoy, then ask about joining, the meeting venue and any access requirements. The Solaris Centre also provides meeting and exhibition space, while community organisations can explain their current opportunities directly.
